When working with saved templates in Creative Elements, you have two options to use them: copying or embedding with shortcode. Understanding the differences between these approaches can help you choose the most suitable method based on your specific needs. Let's compare the two:

Inserting a copy of a Saved Template

Copying templates is beneficial when you need to quickly populate your page with pre-designed content and require minor enhancements for specific sections.

  • You can easily insert the saved template directly from the My Templates tab in the Template Library of the Live Editor.
  • Once inserted, you can immediately modify the template within the Live Editor, making real-time adjustments to suit your requirements.
  • Any modifications made to the copied template will only affect the specific instance inserted on the page.
  • Modifying the template in the Saved Templates section will not affect any of the copied instances throughout your website.

Steps:

  1. In the Live Editor, click on the folder icon located in the Add new section area.

Embedding a Saved Template with a Shortcode

Embedding templates with shortcodes is useful when you need to display repeating content, such as subscription blocks, social feed blocks, product promotion blocks, product sale countdowns, or holiday special shapes.

  • You can embed the saved template using its corresponding shortcode in various elements such as the Text Editor widget, Accordion widget, Toggle widget, Tabs widget, Shortcode widget, or the Dynamic Tag's Shortcode option.
  • It's important to note that you cannot directly edit the embedded template within the Live Editor.
  • Modifying the template in the Saved Templates section will affect all instances of the embedded template throughout your website.

Steps:

  1. From your PrestaShop admin, navigate to Creative Elements > Saved Templates.
  2. Copy the shortcode of the desired template.

Note: After making any changes or modifications in a text field within the editor, remember to click outside of the text field into a neutral area of the editor. This action allows JavaScript to properly initialize and update the content in the Live Editor.
  1. Remember to Save your changes to ensure they are applied.
