How to Access the Template Library

You can access the Template Library in the following ways:

  • When you open a newly created, empty template in the Theme Builder, the Template Library can open automatically. For page-based templates, it opens on the Pages tab so you can start with a pre-designed page layout.
  • Click the folder icon () in the Add New Container area to open the Template Library manually at any time.

When you open the Template Library manually, the available templates and the tab shown by default can depend on the type of content you are currently editing.

Template Library

The Template Library contains three main tabs:

Blocks
Browse pre-designed content blocks that you can insert into your current layout. Blocks provide ready-made parts of a design that can be combined and customized to create your page.
Pages
Browse complete pre-designed page layouts. Page templates can include both content and page settings that can be imported into the document you are editing.
My Templates
Access templates saved in your own Creative Elements library. These templates are stored in your shop and can be reused in other designs. Learn more about Saved Templates →

The tab that opens by default can depend on the type of content you are currently editing. For example, page-based documents can open the Library directly on the Pages tab, while other document types can open Blocks filtered for the current editing context.

Browsing Templates

Use the Library tools to find a suitable template without having to browse the entire collection manually.

Search

Use the Search field to filter the displayed templates by text.

Filter Blocks

When browsing Blocks, a category filter can be available to help you narrow the results to templates relevant to the current content type or design category.

Sort Pages

When browsing Pages, you can sort the available templates using:

New
Browse templates based on their creation date.
Trend
Browse templates according to their current trend ranking.
Popular
Browse templates according to their popularity ranking.

Favorite Templates

Remote templates can be added to My Favorites for quicker access.

Click the heart icon on a template to add it to your Favorites. Then enable My Favorites in the Library toolbar to display only templates you have marked as favorites.

Click the heart again if you want to remove a template from your Favorites.

Preview a Template

You can preview a remote template before inserting it into your document.

Hover over a template and click the preview control to open a larger preview. The preview is displayed inside the Template Library so you can inspect the design before deciding whether to use it.

From the preview screen, click Insert to add the template or Back to Library to return to the template collection.

Insert a Template

Click Insert on a template to add it to the current document.

The template content is imported into the position from which the Template Library was opened.

If the template also contains page settings, Creative Elements may ask whether you want to apply those settings as well:

Apply
Import the template content together with its page settings.
Don't apply
Insert the template content without replacing the corresponding settings of the document you are currently editing.
Important: Applying the settings of a template can override design, layout, and other settings of the document you are currently editing.

Premium Templates

Some templates in the remote Template Library require an active Creative Elements license.

If your current license access does not allow a template to be inserted, the template displays an Activate License button instead of Insert.

Note: If a Premium template displays Activate License instead of Insert, make sure your Creative Elements license is activated.

My Templates

The My Templates tab displays templates stored locally in your shop.

The list provides information about each saved template, including:

  • Name
  • Type
  • Created By
  • Creation Date

You can sort your saved templates by these properties and use the Search field to find a specific template.

Each saved template provides several actions:

Preview
Preview the saved template before inserting it.
Insert
Insert the saved template into the current document.
Export
Export the template so it can be saved externally or imported into another Creative Elements installation.
Delete
Permanently remove the saved template from your local Template Library.
