Language

The Language panel is a powerful tool for managing content in a multi-language or multi-store PrestaShop environment. It allows you to switch your editing context directly within the Live Editor, ensuring a consistent design and efficient translation workflow across all your shop's versions.

Understanding the Panel

The panel contains two primary dropdown menus for navigation:

Shop Context

If you are running a PrestaShop multistore setup, this dropdown allows you to switch between your different shops. The editor will reload, showing the content and templates specific to the selected shop context.

Language

This dropdown lists all the active languages on your site. Selecting a language allows you to create or edit the version of the page or template for that specific language.

Translation Workflow

You do not need to rebuild your layout from scratch for each language. The recommended workflow is to design your template once in a primary language and then reuse that design for all other languages, only updating the text content.

Follow these steps to translate your content efficiently:

1. Fully design your page or template in your default language. Once you are satisfied with the layout, click the UPDATE button to save your work.
2. Open the Language panel and select the target language you wish to translate to.
3. The editor will reload, presenting a blank canvas for the new language context.
4. Open the Language panel again. Locate the language from which you want to copy the design (your source language).
5. Click the Insert button that appears next to that language. This will import the entire layout and content into your current (target language) editor.

6. With the design loaded, simply click on the text-based widgets (Headings, Text Editors, Buttons, etc.) and replace the content with the appropriate translation.
7. Once you have translated all the text, click UPDATE to save the new language version of your template.
